About White Fallow Sires
Graceful, alert, and unmistakably beautiful, White Fallow Deer sires capture the rarest qualities of elegance and refinement.
The origin of Houghton’s White Fallow Deer is not quite known, but the 5th Marquess of Cholmondeley (grandfather of the present Marquess) is believed to have selected the white colour as a preference.
The deer have been carefully managed for the last 40 years, with selected top quality white fallow buck genetics from Sweden, Denmark and Hungary, to add to the bloodline and ongoing improvement of the white fallow deer.
Their distinctive pale colouring, combined with robust genetics, balance of form, and calm disposition ensures offspring of exceptional quality and visual appeal, so admired in managed parkland.

Origin: Eastern Mediterranean; introduced to Britain by the Romans or Normans.
UK Status: Long-established naturalised species.
Key Traits:
Size: Medium-sized — bucks 80–100 kg, does 40–60 kg.
Coat: Variable (common, menil, black, white). Spotted in summer, grey-brown in winter.
Antlers: Broad, flattened “palmate” shape — distinctive among UK deer.
Behaviour: Gregarious, often park-dwelling but also free-ranging.
Call: Groaning grunt during rut.
Benefits/Uses: Strong park heritage, visually striking, manageable temperament, and good venison yield.
